...what fitness really means...

Such a difference between how I grew up...
Misconceptions of fitness.
Only focused on perceived body image, which was never good.
On being skinny.
On looking a certain way.
On being a certain size.

And what fitness really is.
Being strong.
Being healthy.
Your body able to work as it was made to work.
Eating what your body needs to be efficient, for your brain to work, for optimum performance.
Being who you were made to be -
the end result being you do look your best when you look as you were made to look.

On that note:
Love love love this class we started today for my boys.
Not a "workout" class like for adults.
But a body awareness, spacial and stretching skills, appropriate activity and strengthening and endurance.
Learning along side about play and fun and social skills.
And water, and stretching, and muscles.
So fun!!!

(Not to mention I get to do a kick-buns spin workout while they do their class - ummm, perfect!!)

...dwight...

Yes its true.
THIS happened...

Today, my husband has continually threated buzz cuts.
To the point I had to resort to some pretty heavy duty threats to protect the remaining curls!

And then, he went on to create this...

He says its in honor of The Office, and their last season.
And has started to call him
"Dwight"

O dear.

2.  REUNION
Still having warm fuzzies from 20 year class reunion.
We had 23 people in our graduating class.
Small school fer sure!
And 8 came to our reunion (plus families.)
But was GREAT catching up.

3.  Birthday Month
All 3 of our boys have birthdays this month.
Makes it a FUN yet LONG month!
We celebrated the last one...

4.   HAIRCUT
This is old news.
But I continue to like it.
That's the sign of a good cut, right!!??
5.  LEAVING.
This is actually not a highlight, though this video does make me laugh.
My hubby took this a few weeks ago, when I was leaving for 2 hours.
Now I am leaving for the weekend.
Girls Bachlorette Weekend for one of the weddings I am in later.
You know, its sad that they are sad.
But it sure makes me a better mom to get time away!!
So yay for weekend away, and yay for coming home to these sweeties!!!

...High Five for Friday...

WHAT A WEEK!

High 5s were mixed with Low 5s this week...
But that's why I love this Friday High 5s!!
Choosing to focus on the positive!!

1.  Schooooooool's out for the summer!!!!!!
My 5 year old's last day of school...
He had a super time, made super friends, and will never forget it.
And I am happy to have him all to myself all summer...

2.  Worries.
No, I am actually not thankful for worries.
But I am able to appreciate that this super tough season
we are in has helped mold me/grow me/shape me.
And its made me thankful for quietness, rest, and Matthew 6.
Its less about wanting NO WORRIES in life
and more about learning to keep my eyes on whats important.

3.  The Tub.
Anyone else a bath-taker???
A bath tends to help me keep focused and relaxed...
and its funny how often God and I have really good talks here.
(Maybe because its the only place I am sometimes alone!!)

4.  The Smell of Coffee.
When all else fails, nothing calms me down more
than a whiff of this liquid heaven!!
Thank God for Coffee!!!

5.  My sweet cats!
This is Boss, hanging with the boys as they enjoy the tub!!
We also have sweet Miss Munch
(who I do not enjoy nor love as much as Boss, but please don't tell her.)
My cats have taken a far back seat since the boys came along,
but they are still near and dear and I am thankful for them...
though when they take sweet trip to heaven I will be ready to be cat-free.
(Again, don't tell.  Its not because I don't love them.
I know if you have 3 boys 5 and under in your house, you can relate!!)

Well, High 5s are always a good time!!
Go out and make some memories for next weeks list!!

(Thanks again to Lauren @  From My Grey Desk for letting me link up!!)

...never a dull moment...

Do kids change your life??

Is that a silly silly question??

I didn't get married until I was 30.  Went from working 60 hrs/week at a corporate job that I loved, being a Youth Pastor, and doing whatever I wanted to married with 3 kids in 4 years!!

What changed??

I've come to live by the motto "if it isn't broke, its a miracle" which has made me much less attached to material things.  I realized after a few weeks, you don't even notice the permanent marker art on the front of the furniture in the living room.  I can change a diaper faster than a speeding bullet.  I do not miss sleeping in because I actually do get to sleep through the night on occasion now.  I have learned to cook and care about clean food for me and my fam.  It has beaten most of the "anti-home-maker" attitude out of me.  I have gotten used to never being alone.  I never have to talk to myself because there's always 3 of the funniest people I know around to laugh with.  My heart has learned to operate while over-flowing with love.  I have hollered like I said I never would, and I have apologized.  I have little social life but I don't have time to miss it much.  I have come to appreciate being marred to a man who loves our 3 little guys as much as I do and does this life together with me!!!!

Speaking of him.....  here's A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JARED:

A Day in the Life of Jared
Kids have changed my life, but they have changed me so much more.
Thank you God for my 3 little lovelies!

...pamper...

So...  these aren't my nails.  But today I painted my nails for the first time in... in.... well, I have no idea how long!  I painted them, and I added a topcoat.  And they are this color!

The topcoat was supposed to dry them in 30 seconds.   To be safe, I waited a good 10 minutes before I did anything.  And within 11 minutes my thumb on one hand and a finger on the other were wrecked.  So I redid the whole job?  No way.  Just kind of filled in the bumps, tried the topcoat again, and from a distance and if I keep moving my fingers quickly you can't tell there are some mussed ones!

As soon as I realized my paint job was wrecked, I thought:  "Perfect.  Why do I bother?"  Then I remembered what I tell my hubby:  "I just need to expect everything to get broken.  Then if something doesnt break its a bonus!"  With three little boys 5 and under, this is a perspective I need!!  Maybe my nails aren't perfect, but they are bright and cheery!

Overall, I'm the laid back type.  And I feel blessed that I would rather play or snuggle my boys than have a perfect house.  Though in the past few years somehow I passed "laid back" and have landed in CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome.)  But that's a blog for another day.

Today I am just being grateful for being reminded of the things that really matter.  For being reminded of the season of life I'm in.  One day, I can do my nails and have white carpet and breakables - but I won't have these 3 little buddies running around.

So I will choose to ENJOY TODAY!

Hope you do too!!!

Love,
Pam
